Rollout checklist
This checklist helps organization owners and administrators prepare a working request flow. Set up members and approvers, try one request, then add the integrations you need.
Prepare the first request
Section titled “Prepare the first request”Times are rough guides for each task. They exclude deployment, email delivery, approval waits, and coordination with external service administrators.
- Prepare the organization (about 5 minutes). Ask your deployment operator to provision the organization and its owner, then verify that the owner can sign in. A public organization creation guide is not yet available. This step is complete when you can proceed to Inviting members in the admin guide.
- Invite members (about 5 minutes). Follow Inviting members to invite a requester and a separate approver. Set the manager using Members and approval groups. The requester and approver have separate registered accounts, and the requester has a manager.
- Create an approval group (about 5 minutes). Follow Members and approval groups to add the people your catalog needs. The group is available for approval routes and execution tasks.
- Create one catalog item (about 15 minutes). Choose a request type in Catalog basics, then define its approval route and execution. The enabled item appears in the request picker.
- Try one request (about 10 minutes). Use the first catalog request and separate accounts for requesting and approving. Verify the execution result and evidence to finish. The business travel example on that page uses Slack to report runbook completion, so complete the next integration step first for that example.
Approval routes are fixed when a request is submitted. To test a different approver, change the configuration and submit a new request. Requesters cannot approve their own steps.
Add the integrations you need
Section titled “Add the integrations you need”- Connect Slack (optional, about 30 minutes). Follow Slack integration to configure the Bot and sync members. Verify the connection and last sync in settings. Do this when you want L0 stamps, L1 declarations, or Slack approval cards.
- Configure SSO (optional, about 30 minutes). Choose your IdP guide from Single sign-on, test the connection, and enable it. Verify that SSO sign-in works. Consider domain verification and SSO enforcement after confirming sign-in.
- Connect execution (optional, about 30 minutes). Choose a service from Connect execution. Meet its prerequisites and verify execution with a test request. Use a runbook for work without a connection.
