Getting started
This index is for people who are new to Actagate. Review the overall flow, complete the first actions, then go to the pages for your role.
Choose a page for your goal
Section titled “Choose a page for your goal”- What is Actagate? (3 minutes): The flow from request to ledger, and when to use L0, L1 and L2
- Rollout checklist: Administrators prepare the first request and choose integrations
- The first week: Requesters and approvers try a request through to the issued resource
First steps
Section titled “First steps”These steps apply when your organization is connected to Slack. If it is not, go to the next section.
- Run
/actagate setup @your-managerin Slack to set your manager. The manager step in approval routes uses this setting. An administrator can also set it on the Members screen. - Invite the Actagate Bot to each channel where you want to use stamps. Reactions in channels the Bot has not joined are not recorded.
- Add :actagate: to a colleague’s message. When “㊞ Recorded” appears, you are ready. See Capture chat approval with a stamp for details.
Getting started without Slack
Section titled “Getting started without Slack”Slack is optional. Requests, approvals, execution and the ledger all work with email and the Web.
- Enter your email address at
/login. A sign-in link arrives by email. The link is valid for 15 minutes and works once. If it does not arrive, see the FAQ. - An administrator invites people by email from “Members” and sets their managers. The steps are in Invite members, set managers and roles. Invited people receive a sign-in link.
- Requesters submit from “New request” on the portal. Approvers are notified by email. The email has no approval buttons, so approvers open the Web from the link in the message and approve there.
- To connect Slack later, follow Connect Slack later. Members whose email address matches their Slack account are linked to it, and their notifications switch to Slack DMs. L0 stamps and L1 declarations become available after the connection.
Navigating the Web app
Section titled “Navigating the Web app”The Actagate Web app has two areas: the portal and the admin workspace. Everyday requests and tracking happen in the portal. Approvals and administration happen in the admin workspace.
The portal
Section titled “The portal”Everyone uses the portal.

The admin workspace
Section titled “The admin workspace”Only people who approve, administer or audit use the admin workspace. Enter it from “Admin workspace” in the upper right of the portal. The left menu leads to Approvals, Requests, Cloud operations, Ledger, Stamps, Catalog, Members, Observability, Reports and Settings. The items shown depend on your role and on whether Slack is connected.
You can enter the admin workspace if your role is Owner, Admin, Catalog admin, Member admin or Auditor. With the Member role, you can enter if you are someone’s manager, a member of an approval group, assigned as the approver on an approval step, or someone who has acted on an approval step. Roles and permissions lists what each role can do. Anyone else who opens it is sent back to Home (/home?message=workspace_unavailable). See I cannot see the workspace in the FAQ. If you only need to approve, you can also use the Slack approval card.
